Target Audience Research
The statistics of both ages and genders of people factor in to who watches a horror movie. The most popular age group that watch horror movies are 18-24 year olds and more women watch horror movies then men do. We decided to aim the movie at men & women because the statistics are very close but women do watch more.
Some horror films and their aim group after knowing who watches the movies :
Some horror films and their aim group after knowing who watches the movies :
- Cabin in the woods - This was aimed at young couples, around the ages 16-25
- The Strangers - This was aimed at men. Specifically young men aged 16 and over.
- Nightmare on elm street- This was aimed at couples with no specific age range in mind. It is however, rated an 18 certificate so it would be aimed at people aged 18 and over.
After finding this information out, we think that our film should be aimed at both men, and women I believe the graphic/violent nature of certain shots throughout our film would mean it it most suited to viewers over the age of 18, however as the film is based upon college students, it is most likely to appeal to an audience of under 25's. Before deciding on our target audience, we decided that we should create a survey of our own, rather than relying on information that is already online.
The survey we decided to create will help us to ensure that we have up-to-date information, that is reliable. We included questions on age, gender, occupation, and what their favorite horror sub-genre is. We also included a question to allow us to find out whether they enjoy horror's based on true stories.
We set a survey to be open to 50 people. This enables us to get a response from a wide audience in order to get the most accurate results.
These were our results:
The age group 18-25 was the most popular age group. This is also the same result as the information we found online. This shows that the age group 18-25 are the likely age group to watch Horror films throughout the globe.
After this result, we have decided that we should base my film upon people aged 18-25.
This shows that more females watch Horror films, however there is only two more females than men. I believe that this shows that there is in fact an equal preference between males and females, as there is very little difference. Following this result, we have decided to aim our film towards both men and women. This will allow more people to enjoy the film.

Casting
We originally was going to have three actors and have them walking down to the college but because of personal issues we changed this. The original casting was going to be
Teenagers -
Katie A
Isabel A
Chelsea M
Brandon C
Baron -
Isabel
Because of the personal issues we then changed how we were going to film and decided to film it in the style of the film Se7en. I think played the role of Baron because of the time limit to get the filming done.

Role Allocation
We researched different job roles to find out which ones we would decide to take on -
A Film director is the person who directs of the making of the film. They give direction to both the cast, and crew.
A Film producer is the person who prepares and supervises the whole project from different conceptions to the conclusion of the film. They have the final say on any changes made to sounds and music, and when scenes have to be cut.
The film editor is the person who will edit, chop and change the different shots that have been filmed so that they achieve the best outcome they can. They will be approached by the film director to ensure that it looks good and the way that they had envisioned.
The camera person/guy is the person that controls the camera and films the different scenes throughout the filming process.
The sound person will be the person that puts the different sound effects, and music together.
The actor/actress is the person portraying the character in the film. They are directed by the director and is told what they have got to do in the film.
The researcher searches for all the background information needed and then presents it to other people.
Producer - Georgia Stacey & Zoe Craddock - A producer has overall control over the production of the film and I think we both are the producer as we have control over how each and every little detail is happening.
Director - Georgia Stacey & Zoe Craddock - A directer controls the films creative aspects and guides the crew towards their goal. I think this suits the both of us as we are both filming and have control in the fact of telling the actors where to go and what to do.
Researcher - Zoe Craddock - A researcher searches for information and then presents it to other people. Zoe took this role as she was the one that found the legend and then based the film of what we were going to do.
Camera - Zoe Craddock - The camera man/woman films the action and the gives it to the editor. Zoe has the actual camera to filmed the entire film.
Sound - Georgia Stacey - I am mixing the sounds and adding and changing the layers of music.
Editor - Georgia Stacey
Writer - Georgia Stacey & Zoe Craddock
Music - Machine Head

Storyboard
This was our original storyboards but it is not what we ended up filming. We set a date but I had personal problems and had to push the date back and then my partner got some footage but it was too dark to use. We then set up another storyboard based upon the film seven - we based a storyboard upon the opening scene which is a lot of close up scenes. This is the storyboard we then developed :

The Storyline
The story line we have decided to is based around old legends - we chose one called Baron Samedi which is based around an old legend on Haitian voodoo. The legend is that he is a selfish spirit, chasing after mortal women and that he often is depicted to have a 'fondness' for tobacco and a bottle of rum on him. He likes to disrupt events or other souls, he likes obscenity,he makes filthy jokes to the other spirits and swears a lot - but his main job is to carry the recently deceased to the other side.
We decided to reverse this and that he would take spirits from the bodies of four young college age students in a ritual connected to a book.
The story starts off with the Samedi in mid ritual - the opening starts and then we are shown the teenagers walking down from the college, laughing and joking. They have a party later in the evening and decide to buy an ouija board. They walk to a shop called enchantica on the search for one but end up with a book of rituals instead. They take it to the party and get really drunk and decide to start a ritual - they begin the ritual as joke. At the same time the baron begins the ritual. The energy between the rituals mix and the baron becomes aware of the teenagers - the baron decides to kill the men and keep the women. He lures the teenagers away from the party and kills them with the other vengeful spirits. Unfortunately for Baron, the other side intervenes and uses the teenagers to strip him of power - he then get trapped into book, waiting for the next victim to initiate the ritual.
